Hello Lovely!  Inspiring Way to Organize Your Jewelry Collection

Inspirational Ways to Organize Your Jewelry

Spring is that favorite season of year for many people.  Birds chirping, flowers blooming, sunny days and warmer temperatures...When the seasons change, so do our closets, as we make way for lighter jackets and flowing fabrics.  It's also the perfect time to do a little spring cleaning a la "sparkle style."  Purging your cedar chest or cleaning behind the fridge probably won’t top your priority list, but organizing your jewelry collection might just become one of your favorite seasonal tasks.

Inspirational Ways to Organize Your Jewelry

Whether you’re an avid collector with serious bauble overload or a woman whose jewelry collection includes just a few go-to pieces, why not incorporate them as part of your home decor?  Not only will your collection be better organized, it will be easily accessible for everyday wear, and it will also reflect your personal style at home.  You may find that you enjoy looking at the pieces as art just as much as you like wearing them.  Here's some real life inspiration from our style mavens...

Inspirational Ways to Organize Your Jewelry

1. The sentimental girl:  I am personally a very sentimental girl.  I named my company and my blog Vintage Meet Modern because it reflects my lifestyle, blending everything I love about the past into my everyday modern life.  When my grandmother passed away, I inherited a few pieces that held special meaning for me.  One was a candy dish that had a three-part divider in it.  While the days of keeping candy are over for my waistline, I knew the piece could be easily repurposed into my home decor.  The Victorian Era Covered Dish is perfect for storing necklaces, rings, bracelets and more.  Its outside looks as beautiful as the treasures inside, and the lid is practical:  it keeps little hands out and protects the jewels from dust.  I love the idea of taking a special treasure from the past - whose original function might be a tad outdated - and breathing new life into it for modern times.  Here's a picture of my Victorian Candy Dish filled with pieces from our collection.  On a side note, for all the domestic goddesses among us, "A Well Kept Home" is a delightful book on all things household related and is told in the most charming manner by a French Grandmother ....

2. The Practical Girl:  An egg plate, not just for Easter anymore.  When was the last time you attended a party and the host carried around a platter of Deviled Eggs? I can't remember either, in fact I'm not sure I ever remember a time. However, I recently chatted it up with my favorite gal, Sara at Sfuso, fellow Etsy Chick and admin extraordinaire over atGot Vintage, and thought, “how genius - use an egg plate to organize your baubles!”  With 12 perfect places for tiny treasures and a center for larger pieces. This piece is not only practical, it makes a nice addition to your dresser or vanity.

Egg plates, divided bowls, oyster plates, and muffin trays are all fun things that you might already possess but which make you wonder, "whatever will I do with this?"  The division makes organizing jewels a breeze, plus it prevents tangles and it looks pretty.

If you don't have anything like this at home, they can be easily found while out on thrifting adventures.  And stay tuned:  I will soon be dishing about my favorite vintage markets and haunts.  In the meantime, here are some favorites that can be delivered straight to your door from some great Etsy shops.

I admit it:  I am guilty of being a Target Addict.  Target is on-point when it comes to affordable and functional home decor, and their jewelry organizing accessories don’t disappoint.

While it would appear that my home is a collection of pre-loved beauties incorporated into my everyday life, I do love sleek modern pieces as well.  I have done my fair share of Ikea and Target hacks, and I may have received a few deliveries from Pottery Barn.  You just can't beat those fun and practical designs.  Recently, I fell in love with U Loft by Umbra’s line of products.  I adore the white high gloss finish with the elegant neutral accents.  They instantly upgrade a simple vanity to modern and sophisticated.  If you have a few go-to pieces, you are sure to feel inspired to wear them every day while getting ready in the morning, and you will certainly enjoy putting your pieces away at night.

They also make a great traditional covered jewelry box if your collection is larger and you prefer to have your pieces stored in drawers.  You can shop the whole collection of U Loft by Umbra Products from Target here.

3. Glam and Girlie:  Admittedly, all the Vintage Meet Modern Mavens get easily distracted by sparkly things, and in the immortal words of Carrie Bradshaw, "I like my money right where I can see it...hanging in my closet."  One of the greatest joys of collecting, styling, and wearing jewelry is experiencing it as art. Maybe notquite what Carrie meant, but you get the drift.  That’s why I am so excited about all the fun ways to display and organize your jewelry collection.  For the glam girl with the right accessories, you can feel just like you are walking into the Jewelry Salon at Bergdorf Goodman whenever you walk into your bedroom.

The bright shiny gold tabletop curios, glass étagère cases, and luxe Lucite jewelry accessories (all available online) can really elevate your collection.  Arranged with a few of your favorite fashion books and art, these pieces blend your collection with your home decor.

Oooooh, I love ALL of these but I’d have to say I’m a mix of mostly the glam/girly with a hint of the other two. Great ideas!
